my 1st photo exhibit
I ventured out of my comfort zone a little this weekend. I like to think I'm generally a little bit on the creative side. I am also quite confident (read: cocky). But I'm generally not very confident about my creativeness. This past Saturday, however, I installed a little photo exhibit of my own work at my favorite little coffee shop and used bookstore, Mandolin Books and Coffee Company. I'm a little anxious about people's reaction to what I've put on display...I know a lot of the folks in the neighbourhood who frequent the coffee shop, so I hope they like what they see...
About 1/2 of the photos are from a 1950's playground that I happened upon during a walk the morning of my wife's cousin's wedding in Watseka, Illinois last summer. It was a funky playground that made me think, "what would have been more worrisome to a parent in the 50's? losing my children to nuclear war - or having them get lead poisoning from the paint on the solid metal rocket that they're bound to fall off of at the playground?" For those visiting Canadian children who were afraid of rocket shaped playground equipment, there was also a pelican/turtle/hippo/elephant ride. That eased my concern.

Some of the pictures are toys that I have at home. I played with the colour of the images in Picasa2. I think they look cool, but I'm not sure if anyone else will...I put them in the back room of the coffee shop, so that maybe not as many people will see them.
I guess if anyone makes fun of them I can say in my best pompous voice, "Oh really...where's your photo exhibit?" Unless of course they have one next door. ;)
