waste not, want not...

I bought myself a rainbarrel today. 200L of environmentally friendliness. I picked up a lovely blue barrel from Brian at the Edmonton Rain Barrel Project, it's a barrel that was previously used in the food industry (the word MALT is scrawled on the back in black marker). It looks cool on the little wooden platform Dad and I built out of scraps of pressure treated 2x4s and 1x6s. The fun part was the redirecting of the eavestrough, since the original direction was through the wall of the attached garage, and then through the wall into the basement and into a pipe leading to the storm sewer (I presume). Now I have some sealing and caulking to do, but the barrel looks real sweet.

The Urban Farmer

Edible Plants. That's what I'm thinking. Lots of things to do here at the "new" house. (It's funny how we call it a "new" house, it's 57 this year.) This last week has involved 2 trips to the landfill, a new window well, a chainsaw and a tree stump, a 'legal' electrical outlet in the bathroom, a fridge door that opens the 'other' way, and a lot of dirt. The last part brings me to this cool website from a fellow here in Edmonton; The Urban Farmer ~ Plant Profiles. Now that I have a yard that I want to spend time in, I think I need a lot of edible plants.

ear hair

TWO MONTHS into my thirties...and I found ear hair. Not just one, but two. I guess it's all down hill from here.
We moved last week, and I finally got my home office set up again. I still don't have the TV set up, and we went 5 days without hearing the phone ring. It's been a quiet, yet very busy week. I really wish I could find my cordless drill...I've checked a million boxes.
We're taking Z to the Faith Lutheran School Carnival tomorrow, they have free hotdogs 'n' stuff. That's all I've got.
Ciao.
